How to Brush Your Pet’s Teeth
One of the most often ignored health care aspects for pet’s might be dental care. In fact 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by age three, according to the American Veterinary Dental Society.
But starting a dental care routine doesn’t have to be hard. Just take it slow and be consistent, and follow our Pet Expert advice on how to brush your pet’s teeth
Choose a time when you and your pet are both relaxed
Start by using a pea sized amount of toothpaste or gel on your finger and rub it gently on the outside of your pet’s teeth. Make sure it is toothpaste that is specifically made for pets.
Use a soft toothbrush or finger brush to brush the teeth. Hold the brush at a 45 degree angle to the tooth and brush back and forth from gum to tip.
As your pet accepts the brushing slowly increase the duration.
